Unsolved Mysteries

Even with all of the technology we have in our modern world, there are still many mysteries. You may leave with answers, or more questions then you began with. Either way, be prepared to think.

The Wedding Vow 1:1

It is officially three weeks until my wedding and well, I still have a lot to do. I cannot believe how long it takes to plan one single day. Honestly, the wedding day is what, twenty-four hours long? Yet by the time the “big day” comes I will have accumulated three months of twenty-four hour days. The time just does not balance out.

This week’s wedding challenge has been- besides having the flu and not being awake long enough to accomplish anything, writing my wedding vows. I have been at complete loss on how to do this. I had no desire to write them in the first place, but Sean, my husband-to-be, insisted. So since I was having romantic writer's block, I foolishly decided to ask Sean for some help. In my defense he has to write them too right? Well that was my mistake. He casually said, “Just do what I am going to do- make them up on the spot.” Some of you, particularly my readers that are not girls may be thinking “so what?” But let me tell you, after three months of twenty-four hour days, improving wedding vows was not okay.

This morning somehow I went from having a complete block on this whole vow situation, to having a small spark of an idea. I now introduce you to my rough draft, if you will, of my wedding vows. I am not a romantic, but I do love my fiancé. Hopefully the following shows that.

“My Sean, I love you very much. I promise to be the best wife to you that I can. I will be supportive, encouraging, and loving through all the seasons of our lives. I will submit to you just as you submit our family before the Lord. From this day forth we will no longer be two separate people, but one. Let no man separate what God has brought together for his glory. It is with great joy that I now bond myself to you and only you from this day forward, until death do us part.”

A few bible verses were referenced in my vows:
  • There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven ~ Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV
  • Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. ~ Ephesians 5: 22-24 KJV
  • "So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." ~Matthew 19:6 NIV
I have also decided to include, as a running feature up until the week of the wedding, a “What Sabina and Sean’s first dance is going to be?” We have changed it so many times now it has become a joke to the point where I would be surprised if we have anything close to a traditional song as our first dance.

Today's options

1. Let’s Get It On ~ Marvin Gaye

2. Grow Old With You ~ Adam Sandler

My vote is number 2. Sean votes for number 1. What do you think?
